I will always remember the first time I met Eric at his first race at Pomona. He was really cool with the kids, he got down on his knees and asked them their names, then signed his autograph for them. Then he posed with me for a picture. You could tell that Eric was the "Real Deal", just a real down to earth guy. I liked him right away.

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture, I took it over 25 years ago at OCIR with a Vivitar Telephoto camera. I believe it was 1978. Notice the early use of video technology, a camcorder is ductaped to the rollbar!!!!
Shirley recently signed the picture for me at the 2003 Winston Finals.
Congrats to a very classy lady, and Champion!!!
